The Trouble With Gods

Patrick Quinn came to Merritt's Bay looking for somewhere to disappear. A former detective with a battered past, he's not interested in saving anyone, solving mysteries or attracting attention. He's had quite enough trouble for one lifetime.

Unfortunately, trouble has other ideas.

A threatened local shopkeeper, a town harbouring dangerous secrets and powerful people accustomed to getting their own way drag Quinn back into the kind of fight he thought he'd left behind. Then there's Loki, a remarkably talkative Norse god whose idea of helping generally involves making everything considerably worse.

As the threats escalate and the town's respectable façade begins to crack, Quinn must decide whether he's still the man who once stood up for people who couldn't stand up for themselves.

And whether having a god on his side is an advantage or a particularly elaborate form of punishment.
